What is a Twilight Train site?
These sites are music-based web sites that were created to serve all needs any professional or ametuer musician/artist might have. They have back-ends you can login to where you can edit almost every aspect of the site possible. This is ideal because it's less work for me, and it puts some control of your site in your hands. I know what you are thinking; "I know nothing about computers, I don't WANT any control over my web site!!".. I made this thing really easy to use (I think), if you can use a MySpace page believe me, you can manage one of these guys. And best of all, they're meant to be VERY affordable so you can invest that hard-earned money elsewhere for your career/music-endeavors.
What can a Twilight Train site do?
- Editable pages: Feature-filled web-based editors to edit most of your content. Very similar to a word document, but simplified a little. You can re-order your pages, upload photos in the content area, re-name pages and more.
- Music: Flash-based mp3 players that can be popped up for listening while viewing. You can re-order your songs, upload new ones, show/not-show, choose which ones can be downloaded and more.
- Shows: Add/Update/Delete all of your music shows. You can also mark it to show all entries in a calendar-based format.
- Links: Categorize any related links you want. You can also add a small description to each one.
- Images/Video: Upload a bunch of photos and put them into categories. We have the editor show content below them too so you can add YouTube or MySpace videos if you like.
- Guestbook/Message board: Simple guestbook where anyone can leave a comment very easily. They have some pretty good spam protection as well. And your fans don't have to create an account or any of that jazz either. All entries are deletable by you in the back-end if need be.
- Contact: Basic contact page to show any emails you want listed. Also have web-based form fields they can fill out to contact you.
- Press: A place to Add/Update/Delete any press clippings you might have.
- Store: Add/Update/Delete entries for your store. You can create categories for each as well. This allows you to list all CD's by each other and then your t-shirts, and then maybe your stickers.. whatever you want. This is not an e-commerce site version, just has a place for you to put links to other places to purchase (PayPal/CDBab/iTunes/etc).
- Mailing list: A spot for your fans to get on your mailing list. You can also send out mass emails to them from the back-end and add/delete anyone on your master list.
- What else? I am always adding new functionality. Let me know what you're thinking and we can see what possibilities there are. There's also a good chance it's already on my list of stuff I want to build.
How do I get one of these darn things?
You need to talk to me, Pete, about setting one up. I'm a one-man-band when it comes to these sites (for now), so I like to discuss fully with each client what their needs are, what kind of look/feel they're going for and what kind of time-line I can do it in. Keep in mind I work a full-time day job (building/maintaining web sites) AND I'm an aspiring musician who tries to play out a couple times a week. So many times, the weekends are when I get Twilight Train work done.
